Gifted to Harry by Fred and George Weasley, The Marauder's Map became his indispensable guide to exploring every inch of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Our design features the Marauders' insulting message to Professor Snape and the caricature that appears when the Potions Master attempts to reveal the map's secrets. Designed to look as though the teenage Marauders had scrawled the unflattering image of their classmate, Miraphora experimented with several cartoon versions of Snape's portrait before finally basing the caricature on Alan Rickman, who portrays the formidable character on-screen.

Our design features the Whomping Willow detail found on the iconic red-ink cover, with its twisting branches crafted from the same swirling handwriting as the inside of the map. Inspired by eighteenth-century animal drawings created entirely out of words, MinaLima incorporated the Whomping Willow into the front cover design to illustrate its significance to the film's storyline and the map's cunning creators.
