Behind the design
Woven into the Black Family Tapestry in 12 Grimmauld Place, the family coat of arms proudly boasts the legacy and prestige of Sirius Black's heritage. Our design features the Black family's armoured hand brandishing a wand above three black ravens on a shield surmounted by a golden skull and decorative scrollwork. Referencing traditional heraldic crests, MinaLima designed the coat of arms using a skull crowned with a triumphant laurel wreath to symbolise the Black family's pursuit of everlasting greatness and their ominous pure-blood motto that translates as ‘Always Pure’.
