Behind the design
Property of the Half-Blood Prince, 'Advanced Potion Making - Edition II' was used by Harry Potter to excel in Professor Slughorn's Potions class, thanks to the copious amendments and suggestions from the previous owner. Our design features the faded cover with its mystical runes rising from a stylised smoking cauldron and complex theorems from the art of potion making. Inspired by the eclectic covers of vintage educational textbooks, MinaLima designed the original graphic prop to look aged and worn like it had been languishing in a Hogwarts classroom cupboard since the original owner, Professor Snape, was a student.

Behind the design
The latest edition of ‘Advanced Potion Making’, this textbook was used by all sixth-year Hogwarts students in Professor Slughorn’s Potions class, except Harry who was left with a decades-old ‘Edition II’ from the classroom cupboard. Our design features the updated cover with its abstract layering of graphic cauldrons that increase in size to surround the modern lettering of the textbook’s title. Inspired by book covers of the 60s and 70s, MinaLima designed the original graphic prop with a modernised cauldron motif to provide an obvious contrast to the design of Harry’s outdated, borrowed edition.
