Behind the design
A required textbook for first year students at Hogwarts, 'A History of Magic' was written by Bathilda Bagshot and details the rich history of the wizarding world from witch hunts to goblin rebellions. Our design features the gilded cover with its ancient rune motif and Latin inscription surrounded by a pattern of stars and entwined dragon frame, taking inspiration from opulent antique books. Though the title is mentioned earlier in the film series, a design for the cover was not required until the seventh film, when MinaLima designed the original graphic prop for Hermione Granger’s precious book collection.
