Behind the design
Delivered to Harry Potter by Rubeus Hagrid on his eleventh birthday after scores of owl-delivered letters failed to reach him at the Dursleys’, this momentous envelope was the boy wizard's first contact with the wizarding world. Our design features the envelope front addressed to Harry at 'The Cupboard under the Stairs' and reverse emblazoned with the Hogwarts coat of arms and wax seal. Handwritten by Miraphora Mina in emerald green ink, she tried to embody the character of Professor Minerva McGonagall when creating this iconic graphic prop.
